Privacy Policy for VoxyFlow

Last updated: May 3, 2026

1. Introduction

Welcome to VoxyFlow. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting it. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how we handle it when you use the VoxyFlow Chrome Extension and website.

2. Data We Do Not Collect

We believe in absolute privacy. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. We do not track your browsing history or monitor the web pages you visit.

3. Data We Collect and How We Use It

VoxyFlow operates almost entirely locally on your device. Here is what we do store:

  • Local Storage: We use your browser's local storage to save your extension settings (e.g., target language, dark mode preference, shortcut preferences) and the vocabulary you manually save. This data stays entirely on your device and is not sent to our servers.
  • API Keys: If you use your own API keys for translation services (e.g., DeepL), they are securely stored in your browser's local storage and are only sent directly to the respective third-party API provider to fulfill your translation requests. We do not transmit these keys to our own servers.
  • Waitlist/Beta Submissions: If you submit your email for early access on our website, we securely store your email in our database (Supabase) solely for the purpose of communicating updates about the product.

4. Permissions Required

To function correctly, the VoxyFlow Chrome extension requires the following permissions:

  • activeTab & Host Permissions (<all_urls>): To extract the specific text you select for translation and seamlessly inject the translation tooltip directly into the web page you are currently viewing.
  • storage: To save your preferences and vocabulary locally.
  • scripting & contextMenus: To allow you to trigger translations via keyboard shortcuts or right-click menus, and to display the translated UI on the page.
  • sidePanel: To present your saved vocabulary matrix side-by-side with your browsing session.

5. Third-Party Services

VoxyFlow interacts with third-party APIs (such as DeepL) solely for the purpose of translating text. When you elect to translate a word, that specific text snippet is sent to the translation provider. Please refer to their respective privacy policies regarding how they handle translation data.
